The world’s leading exhibition for quality technologies, CONTROL 2010, takes place in Stuttgart, Germany from 4th to the 7th May 2010.
Since last year, with the credit crunch and subsequent manufacturing downturn, even the major economies of Europe have proved to be challenging markets for QA and metrology companies. But even in that very difficult year of 2009, the CONTROL exhibition in Stuttgart achieved credible, though much reduced, visitor numbers at 18,857 (24,783 in 2008), along with 900 exhibitors from 24 countries. 2010 now looks to be in better shape, with manufacturing recovering somewhat. So perhaps we may see better than expected visitor numbers at the new Stuttgart Exhibition Centre this month.
FARO, a world leading provider of portable measurement and imaging systems, will present its broad range of portable measuring machines at CONTROL 2010. On stand 3404 (Hall 3). Visitors will discover more about the latest technologies and industry-specific software solutions, with live demonstrations of all FARO products. including FaroArms, Laser Trackers, Scanners and Faro Gage.
The FaroArm product line consists of Quantum, Platinum, and Fusion, which are flexibly deployable, portable measuring systems for 3D measurements. The FaroArm products measure, digitize, or create a CAD component analysis right in production or during assembly. The measurement arms are available with six or seven axes and with four measuring volumes.
Faro’s Laser Tracker ION is the company’s most advanced Laser Tracker ever introduced. The ION features a longer measurement range, lighter weight, and contains the fastest, most sophisticated distance measuring system: Agile Absolute Distance Meter (aADM).
The FARO Gage is the smallest and most precise FARO measuring arm. With a measurement volume of 1.2m it is ideal for adjusting, aligning, measuring and verifying parts. Different software packages are available to suit various requirements.
The FARO Laser Scanner Photon 120/20, combined with the new FARO Scene 4.6 software, offers users the fastest and longest range phase shift laser scanning solution in the market place. The new Photon models capture and analyses detailed 3D images of large objects efficiently by reducing scan time and post processing work.

Werth Messtechnik: multi-sensor machines on show at Control on the Werth Messtechnik stand 7102 (in Hall 7) will include the Werth ScopeCheck and VideoCheck.
The Werth Scopecheck range is suited to applications such as machining, sheet metal punching, plastics injections molding operations and printed circuit boards. The Werth VideoCheck range meet demands for high accuracy in production control and the laboratory. They are designed to measure parts such as injection nozzles, turbine blade cooling holes, stents, tooling, automotive, electrical and plastics parts.
The machines are used for fully automatic determination of three dimensional geometries. The high performance control system allows the use of continuous path scanning systems, providing for fast 3D scanning.
These machines can be integrated with a range of sensors including image processing video sensors, laser sensors, touch trigger and dynamic scanning probes, and the patented Werth Fiber Probe and the Werth Contour Probe - with the world’s smallest probe size of 20-micrometer diameter.
Werth Messtechnik’s dimensional measurement machines are distributed in the UK by Mantech Sales, in the UK. Paul Nash, sale director for Mantech will be on the Werth stand at Control, to explain how these will benefit UK manufacturers.

On stand 3514, Delcam will launch the 2010 R2 version of its PowerINSPECT inspection software. The new release will incorporate automatic surface inspection and the ability to use GD&T data from CATIA models, plus improvements to the handling of point cloud data and changes to the interface to make the software even easier to use.
PowerINSPECT combines the ability to work with all types of inspection device with a comprehensive range of inspection routines for making simple measurements, for inspecting geometric features and for checking complex surfaces. The resulting reports present detailed information in easy-to-read formats that can be understood by all engineers, not just inspection specialists.
