Andreas Evertz has taken over from Peter Witteczek as CEO of Walter AG.

Andreas Evertz became CEO of the global tooling company Walter AG on April 1 when Peter Witteczek retired from the position. Evertz , joined Walter AG in 2008 and is responsible for the areas of R&D, logistics and production on the company's executive board. He had been acting as deputy CEO since October 2009.

Peter Witteczek began at Walter AG more than 37 years ago in Austria, where he was sales manager for the Eastern European markets. From 1980 until the mid-1990s, he laid the foundations for the company's considerable development in the years to follow, establishing a global corporate structure. He joined the Walter executive board in 1996 and had been CEO since 2002. A great entrepreneur, Peter Witteczek played a significant role in Walter's success story.

His successor, prior to joining Walter, held a variety of managerial positions at Flender AG and was most recently managing director of Flender Tübingen GmbH.

"I am looking forward to the task of continuing to develop Walter as one of the top suppliers of precision tools on the global metal-cutting market," says Evertz. "We will also persevere with our 1B10 corporate strategy: ultimately, we want to reach the one-billion-euro mark."

Evertz sees enormous potential for growth in the complete package of high-tech tools offered through the company's brands: Walter (carbide- and PCD-insert tooling systems for turning, drilling and milling), Walter Titex (HSS-E and solid-carbide drilling and reaming), Walter Prototyp (HSS-E and solid-carbide thread generation and milling) and Walter Valenite (indexable inserts and specials).
