The United Way of Peel Region has awarded ESAB Canada, Mississauga, ON, with its Outstanding Joint Union-Management Campaign Spirit Award.

ESAB accepted the award for a workplace campaign run jointly with union members from the United Steelworkers, Local 9042 and management in the private sector.

Through prize draws, potlucks, popcorn sales and a silent auction, the highlight of the campaign, ESAB Canada increased its United Way donations by 3.5 per cent over 2008.

According to company officials, ESAB's ongoing support of the United Way helps to ensure the wellbeing of its communities through the services that the United Way provides. ESAB credits its employees for their contributions, commitment and generosity during this campaign and its suppliers who donated prizes for the draws and silent auction.
