Resale 2011, the next edition of the world-leading trade fair for used machinery and equipment, will be held at the New Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre April 6–8, 2011, as a joint project of Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH and Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress-GmbH (KMK). The 16-year-old event had taken place in Karlsruhe previously.
Despite the change of venue, Resale will continue to be staged in the strong economic region of Baden-Württemberg. However, it is moving to the heart of the market for mechanical engineering and plant construction. Because the used-machinery business sector is very much geared toward the global market, Resale — and its exhibitors from more than 20 countries and visitors hailing from over 100 — will henceforward benefit from taking place in one of Europe's most modern trade fair centres, one conveniently located next door to an airport with first-class international connections.
Ernst Pfister, Baden-Württemberg's minister of economic affairs, attaches great importance to the used-machinery market and the change of venue for Resale. "I am delighted that Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH and Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress-GmbH are working together to provide Resale with the best possible location for further development. This also clearly proves that there is good cooperation in the trade fair state of Baden-Württemberg and that the cooperation agreement arranged by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2009 is bearing fruit."
KMK will continue to act as the licensor of Resale, and will profit from its success. This is the first component of an agreement between the two major trade fair companies in Baden-Württemberg to cooperate more closely on trade fairs and exhibitions.
"As a licensee of KMK, Messe Stuttgart will be able to use Resale as an excellent addition to its portfolio comprising AMB, Lasys, O&S, Blechexpo, motek and many other events relating to the area of used machinery," remarks Ulrich Kromer von Baerle, managing director of Messe Stuttgart.
Britta Wirtz, chair of the board of management of KMK, explains the reasons for Resale's move from Karlsruhe to Stuttgart: "The strategic internationalization options are much better at the New Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre next door to Stuttgart Airport. We will still play a long-term role as a partner and licensor, and can also promote the trade fair city of Karlsruhe internationally through the foreign network of our colleagues in Stuttgart."
Resale will make a strategic breakthrough with its new partner, since the trade fair topics at the new location will revolve around not only resale but also retooling, retrofitting, rebuilding, remanufacturing, removal, reconfiguration and recycling. In Stutgart, the show will also have more space in which to expand and develop.
